first trade-able cream

December 30, 2008

today marked the first trade-able cream that i’ve made in C pharmacy. First sell-able one..that will be used by a patient. Proud? Yea.. Nervous? Yea.. I’m sweating, not because it’s hard, not because it’s warm.. but because i need to hold my breath so that i dont disturb the balance that i’m using.. this antique balance.. i didnt even see it in the display cabinet in the school of pharmacy. not only one but TWO. and i have to deal with balancing the scale before i can start weighing.. salicylic acid cream.. with the “help” of the two antique balance.. it took me almost an hour to complete. isshhhh
took me half an hour to balance.. wth~

labelled and dated discard date..it’s finally good to go on the shelf, waiting for the patient to pick it up :)

good job.. tho it’s not carried out in the usual fancy pharmaceutics compounding lab :)

it’s HIPPOPOTAMUS

December 27, 2008

it’s so funny how three girls, with two being chinese educated… cant tell me what is hippopotamus in mandarin. that’s what happen when u tend to speak other languages other than mandarin..especially when u rarely use that word. how often would u use “he ma”? one word.. R.A.R.E. when being asked.. i dont know how come i’ll tell them.. “shui niu”, then i realised “shui niu” is actually the ox -.-” deng~

haha.. it feels nice when u know there’s ppl who misses you, being concerned of your MIA and dropped you lines of messages on msn :p but sorry pal.. it’s not that i’ve forgotten bout u. yea.. it’s my fault that i can’t call you. but it’s your fault that i can’t text u :p

it  will be sunday tomorrow and i guess it’s gonna be another day in the city.. shopping! this is what my friends and i love to do these days.. cos it’s the xmas, boxing day and new year sales. all 3-in-1 ! ;p voila~

merry x’mas

December 26, 2008

hey ya.. merry x’mas !!

thanks a lot for ur greetings & messages, be it thru the sms or emails. phone went haywired and running short of credit for the month thus there is no reply from me. sorry :p that’s what happens when u dont get internet connection over a long period of time and then kept on making international calls as if it doenst cost a bloody fortune.

it’s partying night cum waiyee’s bday on xmas eve. pot-luck styled dinner, Cheesecakes shop’s choc mud cake, Jim Bean, Grants, Coke and H20 and it’s meant to bring u down till wee hours in the morning. It’s also meant to bring some atmosphere to us in the new house.. our nest!..the next partying ground. Eww…but that Grants really tasted like hospital-grade-disinfectant! those that will kill 99.9% germs!

it’s boxing day today.. and when it’s warm, it’s time to go to spend ur fortune till u bleed :) myers open up early this morning, greeted by swarms of crazy homo sapiens who apparently had queued early in the morning to get in. crazie ppl even queued up to go up the escalator. isn’t that crazy?

C pharmacy xmas lunch

December 15, 2008

it’s almost xmas, and it’s time for the annually held xmas lunch. tho i’m at work for only 3 wks, still invited.. not annual for me tho. that’s why big boss Rob says “thanks for another great yr, but a great 3 weeks from zk.. cheers!” .. zk startled and smile. it was held in a winery estate and looking at the one hour journey to that place, all bushes and jungles, it’s a surprised that the restaurant was packed! and that was at lunch hours, imagine dinner. apparently, big boss Rob frequent that place often and do not judge a book its cover.. he really knows his wines and cheese! his french.. amazing. and he’s a pharmacist! he travels a lot and i guess, he’s freaking rich. ok, back to the lunch. we reached bout half past one, just in time and the first thing that captivated me was the signboard.
darlington estate = darling-on estate

darlington estate = darling-on estate

okay, i assumed the owner of this winery met his darling wife on this particular estate? :)

well, the norm is we’ll have to wait patiently for good stuffs and true to what i’ve heard, the food was really good! yummy~ tho the portion was small, but it was just nice with an entrée, a main, some accompaniments and a dessert. it was brilliant. i guess it’ll be best letting the pictures do the talking..

out of her mind?

December 11, 2008

wet wednesday evening… when i was busy serving a customer, my colleague who supposedly went home.. came back thru the entrance, looking dejected, pale n wet due to the drizzle. i was quite surprised to see her coming back. without saying a word, she walked right to the end of the pharmacy, where the first aid section was located. i was quite stunned…thought that something had happened. she then walked up to the counter to pay.. that’s when i noticed something shinning on her wrist.. in fact, it’s not one but TWO shining green dots on her wrist.. OMG.. she pierced her wrist! it was too busy that evening to ask her actually what happen till today when i see her again. apparently she did it cos she wants to. imagine having someone to actually pinch u then stapled ur skin! errrr… it gonna hurts. when i touch it.. i can actually feel the plastic connector adjoining the two studs under her skin. she must have gone out of her mind to do that. but anyhow, i’m awed. “P, I ADMIRE UR COURAGE FOR UR PERMANENT BRACELET!”

it’s December!

December 6, 2008

another week passed when you least expected it. while i’m enjoying what i’m doing.. i think time passed by very fast. GOOD!! i’m going back to malaysia soon.. and i can’t wait! i wanna see everyone that i miss!!

it’s saturday.. a day which i have all the time by myself. not bothering if i’m going to sleep till the cows come home from grazing :) but yeah.. i guess it’s a habit. i woke up at 8.07am..and i can’t sleep no more, no matter how hard i tried to sink into the comfort  of my pillow and my blanket. rach gonna so pissed off if i told her that i woke up at 8 cos i cant sleep anymore.. cos she had to wake up at 5.30am to catch the bus to work in gosnells. so.. shhhh… dont tell her :p

but i’m not going to waste my sat day doing nothing. i swept n mopped the whole hse (almost..), cos i can’t stand it anymore. my landlord was sooo particular with her wooden flooring that i think she didnt mop the floor for months. and because she’s wearing a pair of sandals in the house, she didnt feel it’s dirty. she even encouraged us to wear shoes in the house… apa la! such a nice flooring.. wear shoes?!?! what a waste. when we actually clean the bathroom.. usually we will brush the floor uh? but she just want us to mop it. “!@#$% y terbalik wan?!” We, being so “obedient”.. we just brush and pour water on it..then mop it again so that it’s not too wet when she sees it :p   “how would it be clean if we just give it a mop?”

due to tight pockets and lack of transportation, we finally decided to have steaks in the comfort of our house later tonight. well, no one knows how it gonna taste like cos none in the 5 of us had done it before. we will just have to see… and i’ll tell u more bout it later :) today’s lesson gonna be “Beef Ribeye Steak with Mushroom Ragout”

r: “Christmas is just 20 days away!!

p: “Yea.. and we’ll gonna have ‘secret santa’,”  while preparing the name lots for the secret santa draw..

christmas is around the corner and everyone in the pharmacy is getting into the mood. with christmas lunch in a winery estate in darlington on sun noon + secret santa .. i reckoned that it’s gonna be fun. my first christmas in a western country, living with their christmas culture. for those that who have no idea what ‘secret santa’ was about; u draw a name from the lots and you’ll have to buy a christmas present for the person. on the pressie, you’ll have to write the name of the person but not yours. on that day, pressies for everyone will be on the table and you’ll have to look for yours, you wont know who gave it to you (i guess that’s why it’s deemed “secret”). but i guess, eventually, you’ll know who gave it to u :) i’m looking forward to the celebration. in the city, i’m already feeling the atmosphere..

back!

December 2, 2008

sorry for the delay pal… i know it’s been a week i’m off from posting. it’s tiring and i sleep and wakes up very early every day. soooo healthy! :)

it’s demanding but rewarding. “it’s only the 2nd week”, probably that’s what u’ll say to me if i tell you that i’m enjoying my work now. it’s great working with this team, they’re so energetic and enthusiatic in their job. as emily has said, i think i’m putting my boss, mr R as my aim now. as in.. be a great pharmacist and well, have fun! that’s what he always tell me… “have fun!”

“good times passed fast uh?!” pharmacist W said. Yeahh.. i agreed. But honestly, the first day was the longest! Cos there’s sooo much to learn. I gotta learn how to deal with the till, unpack the orders, collect the prescriptions from the patients, recognise the ‘in-house’ customers (cos they frequent the shop a lot), memorise my colleagues names, know the whereabouts of all the medications and over-the-counter products… i guess the hardest bit to acccept was having your customers telling you the exact location of the medicines that they want when u’re still on the bout of looking and searching up and down for it. yeahh..funny i know but that’s what happened to me initially. especially when it’s really busy and you get nervous..and you cant find what they want.. GOSHHH!!

the bit when i actually collect script from patient who wants their script filled … it’s really confusing at first. cos back in uni, we were given all the information that we actually need and we’re given generous amount of time to check the prescription from A to Z for legality problems. well heck, in the reality, it’s quite scary…it made me nervous.. i just collect from them and passed it to the pharmacist to process without checking if the script if legal to be dispensed! especially when it’s really busy and the pharmacist doesnt have time to listen to you. it’s terrible.

but the part which i dislike the most was to pick up the phone in the pharmacy. heck… i just can’t catch what the ppl on the other end was saying. especially their names! i’ll go,”err…pardon me, what’s your name again?” i usually dont ask them to repeat the third time, and u know what i’ll do after that… just simply say a name similar to that :p mind me..it’s really hard to catch their names. especially those elderly who speaks softly. I loveee it when i see an asian comes in to get their script filled. cos i’ll definitely knows how to pronounce theirs :)

funny things do happen. and i do get to make use of my “good” mandarin to communicate with ppl from China. well, they do understands me but not me. sometimes, I dont really get what they’re saying.. cos they like to curl their tongues a lot. but yeah, there’s this chinese man in his 50s came in trying to look for something to boost his manliness.. you know what i’m talking bout. he’s shy and he’s not well versed in english so i bombarded him with my “perfect” mandarin…surprisingly he understand and even praised me for my “good” mandarin.. serious! it’s funny.. initially, he told me he wants something to improve his (kidney).. but at that instance, i’m not sure what exactly that is…i know it shld be either the kidney or liver. i told him i’m not sure what he wants. Looking reserved, he said, “something to improve that between a man and a woman” then it immediately clicks in my head.. “ooo…i know what u’re after!” and..there it goes. What a good way to start off my use of mandarin in the pharmacy! i think i’ll remember that for life! lol~  :)

:)

adios to spring… summer, here i come!
